Jodie Allen // Photographer:

Everyone has as story.  The best part of my job is that I get to capture it.  To freeze it in time so one day when your story has grown past the late night feedings and potty training or carpool and swim team you can look at these moments and smile.

Fresh Art is my full-time job and takes up a lot of my time. My kids are used to spending nights in the studio if I have a session to set-up for or seeing me blurry eyed after a late night of editing. They don’t always get to come first and after 8 years in business I think that’s ok. I’m proud that they are watching me live out my dreams! I’m glad they see how hard I work. And somehow, after all of these years, they don’t totally cringe when I take out my camera to capture them! HA! Photography is my passion and I am so blessed that it’s also my job.

If you want to keep up with me day to day, make sure to follow me on Instagram, you can friend me on Facebook or read the blog. I mix personal with business – it’s who I am.

Why I'm a part of Made New Creative:

The first time I heard that the amazing musicians of Made New wanted to start adding other creatives, like photographers, I felt fairly intimidated. I've never been a part of a more creative church and felt a bit overwhelmed. Over the last two years however, as I've gotten to do some projects for The Gathering, I realized that this is just where God meant for me to be. As a busy mom/wife/business owner who runs around constantly I wasn't sure I would be able to give of my time and talent in a way pleasing to God OR helpful to the church. I couldn't have been more wrong though. The time I've spent taking photos for The Gathering, or even the opportunities to give back to the greater Methodist community, have fed me in ways that my normal work never can. One of the best moments for me so far has been photographing Wellspring Methodist Church in Ferguson, MO not long after all the protests - it was powerful and God knew that I needed to be there that day. Another special moment for me was taking photos on a normal Sunday at The Gathering McCausland site. Nothing extraordinary happened, but being able to capture people worshiping Jesus together was powerful for me. To capture such a personal and intimate moment as someone praying or strangers holding hands during The Lord's Prayer was incredible. I am constantly surprised how God uses my camera to bless me and I am excited to see where Made New Creative might take me!
